Update 02/01/07
New Links
- Brazilian Portuguese Pronunciation. A useful text guide to pronunciation, on a more general promotion/commercial site. The only other useful tool on the site is the verb conjugator in the Grammar section.
- FCE Blog. A weblog written, and continually updated, by Claudia Ceraso, a teacher of English in Argentina, which she describes as "a webguide to online practice for students preparing for the Cambridge FCE [First Certificate in English] exam. It offers guide and advice on all parts of the test as well as reflection on how students may become more autonomous learners. "
- Slang Dictionaries and Language Links. A categorised and annotated collection of links to slang dictionaries worlwide, though concentrating almost exclusively on the English-speaking world.
- Gaelic Orthographic Conventions. Although a seemingly dry document, this can be quite illuminating for learners and help to clarify spelling and pronunciation. For instance, knowing that "beul" used to be spelt "bial" helps in understanding why it's pronounced "bee-ul".
- Manx Language. The Wikipedia entry on Manx, with history, orthography, pronunciation, and links.
Deleted links
The following links have been removed because their hostnames couldn't
be looked up (perhaps the domain has lapsed/changed), the URL gave a
404 Not Found error, the site or page was otherwise unreachable, or the
site had otherwise become unsuitable for the collection. On this update, the cull has been of dead Portuguese, EFL, and Celtic sites.
