Associated Organisations and Projects

CTI Modern Languages, latterly the C&IT Centre, have been, and are, involved in a number of organisations and projects relating to CALL and/or educational technology.

EUROCALL

www.eurocall.org

The administrative headquarters of the European Association for Computer Assisted Language Learning are based at the C&IT Centre. The close association with EUROCALL enables us to ensure that lecturers in the UK are kept up-to-date with related activities in Europe and further afield, and enables EUROCALL subscribers to receive some of the services supplied by the Centre.

HUMBUL

www.humbul.ac.uk

The C&IT Centre at Hull worked with Humbul, the Humanities hub of the national Resource Discovery Network, to provide a gateway for access to evaluated online resources for Modern Languages and Literatures, and adding languages and literature resources to the HUMBUL Humanities Hub.

ICT4LT

www.ict4lt.org

The C&IT Centre is a partner in the SOCRATES Project Information and Communications Technology for Language Teachers (ICT4LT), a free WWW-based course for language teachers. The C&IT Centre is responsible for the hosting and technical maintenance of the ICT4LT website. Whilst EU funding for the project has now ended, the website and resources continue to be maintained.

TELL Consortium

www.hull.ac.uk/tell

CTI Modern Languages was the lead site for a major consortium funded by the Higher Education Funding Councils from 1993-1997 under the Teaching and Learning Technology Programme (TLTP). The TELL Consortium (Technology Enhanced Language Learning) produced a range of courseware aimed at various levels of competence for students of French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese. In recent years the Consortium has developed a small number of programs aimed at learners of English. The dissemination and integration of TLTP and TELL materials continues to be part of the Centre's work.
