Arts and Humanities Data Service

The Arts and Humanities Data Service is a national service funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the UK's Higher Education Funding Councils and the Arts and Humanities Research Board to collect, preserve and promote re-use of the electronic resources which result from research in the arts and humanities. It will encourage research and educational use of its collections and make information about them available through an on-line catalogue.

DNER

The Distributed National Electronic Resource

The DNER is a managed environment for accessing quality assured information resources on the Internet which are available from many sources. These resources include scholarly journals, monographs, textbooks, abstracts, manuscripts, maps, music scores, still images, geospatial images and other kinds of vector and numeric data, as well as moving picture and sound collections.

EDINA

Edinburgh Data and Information Access

EDINA, based at Edinburgh University Data Library, is a JISC-funded national datacentre. It offers the UK tertiary education and research community networked access to a library of data, information and research resources. All EDINA services are available free of charge to members of UK tertiary education institutions for academic use, although institutional subscription and end-user registration are required for most services.

HUMBUL

Humanities Bulletin Board

HUMBUL is the Humanities "hub" of the nationally-funded Resource Discovery Network (RDN), which aims to provide "access to high quality Internet resources for the UK learning and research communities" through the provision of "Subject Gateways" for academic subject areas. As such a gateway, HUMBUL provides evaluated online resources for Humanities subjects, including modern languages and literature. The C⁢ Centre is currently working closely with HUMBUL to catalogue selected, high-quality websites of use to language teachers and researchers.

MIMAS

Manchester Information & Associated Services

MIMAS is a JISC-supported national data centre providing the UK higher education, further education and research community with networked access to key data and information resources to support teaching, learning and research across a wide range of disciplines. MIMAS services are available free of charge to users at eligible institutions - although site subscriptions are required for a number of the data and information resources available through MIMAS. Some MIMAS services require individual registration.

The Resource Guide for the Arts and Humanities

Provides information, documentation and training opportunities to staff and students who are working or studying in the arts and humanities in Higher Education in the UK.

RDN Virtual Training Suite

The Virtual Training Suite is a set of online tutorials from the Resource Discovery Network (RDN) designed to help students, lecturers and researchers improve their Internet information skills. The tutorials are subject-specific, providing specific and targetted guidance to subject specialists, rather than generic 'How to use the Internet'-type tutorials, and include The Internet for Modern Languages.
