Innovative Projects

Languages Projects
Non-languages Projects
Resource Banks and Gateways

This is a new and growing section of the site, which contains resources and links to innovative projects and developments in the field of C&IT, CALL, and educational technology. Although the focus is primarily on language learning and teaching, we will also examine more generic technologies (eg Virtual Learning Environments) and projects which, although not specifically languages-related, could be applied to the field of languages.

The Innovation section is mainly aimed at existing and would-be C&IT practitioners in languages, to allow them to stay up-to-date with latest developments in educational technology, and in particular the mushrooming field of networked learning, to learn from the experiences of current projects, and to avoid duplication of effort.

It contains three subsections:

  • Languages: projects specifically aimed at language learning, teaching, or research
  • Non-languages: projects not specifically related to languages, but which could have a languages application
  • Resource banks and gateways: projects dedicated to making reusable electronic resources available to the academic community

If you know of, or are involved in, any innovative project which you would like to see highlighted in this section, or if you have any suggestions as to how we could expand and improve this section, please email Janet Bartle or Fred Riley.
