About CALL@Hull[ Associated Projects ] [ CTI Modern Languages ] [ Website info ] PurposeThe main purpose of this site is to conserve, maintain, and further develop the resources developed during the 12-year lifespan of the CTI Centre for Modern Languages (CTICML) at the University of Hull, and to continue to make them available to the higher education languages community. Website ContentsThe CALL@Hull website contains resources developed during both the CTI and Subject Centre years, many of which are still being updated and extended. The resources are concerned with the use of Communications and Information Technology (C&IT) in the teaching and learning of languages in higher education. This includes Computer-Aided Language Learning (CALL) software, resources on the Internet and WWW, and books and articles on C&IT and languages. HostingThis site was previously that of the C&IT Centre, which before that was the CTI Centre for Modern Languages, hosted at the University of Hull Language Institute. (See the history of CTICML for further details.) This website is now hosted on my personal web hosting account, and has no connection whatsoever with the University of Hull. It is purely a personal initiative, unsupported by any public or private body. Site AdministratorThe site is maintained by myself, Fred Riley. I worked in the University of Hull Language Institute from May 1992 to December 2002 on a range of externally-funded projects, and became increasingly involved with CTICML and its associated projects from 1994 onwards. At the end of December 2002, as a direct result of funding for my post being withdrawn by Prof Michael Kelly of the University of Southampton, Director of the LTSN Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics, and Area Studies, I was made redundant by the University of Hull. I'm currently 'resting', as the acting profession has it, and am involved in occasional freelance web development work. Personal website |
